FURY Announcer heading to South Africa

Ottawa Fury's W-League announcer Mike Pearson will be packing his bag this time two years from now to head off to the 2010 World Cup hosted in South Africa. Mike, along with his friend JJ, won the inaugural season of the 'World Leagues Predictor.' Mike's ties to the Fury run a lot deeper than his announcing as both his daughter's play in the Fury's youth program. Mike notes that through his daughter's involvement with the Club "the more I've watched the more I've learned, the more I appreciate the beauty of the game. From everyone at the Fury we would like to congratulate Mike and hopefully he'll get to see some Fury graduates playing in 2010...
FIFA.com notes that the second season begins in August so be sure to see if you can join Mike in his triumph to South Africa. Check out the full article posted on FIFA.com at http://www.fifa.com/fanfest/predictor/news/newsid=782640.html#you+could+next

FURY Kick-Off Impressive Pre-Season in New Jersey

The Ottawa Fury W-League returned home early Tuesday morning after a very successful pre-season road trip in New Jersey. They kicked off their season in West Windsor, NJ against their old rivals the New Jersey Wildcats. The new look Fury squad that is fielding 8 new comers and a new head coach, Craig Smith, came out on top 2-0 on goals coming from Sari Raber and Shay Powell. The second game came against perennial W-League powerhouse the Jersey Sky Blue at the 27th Annual Cougar Soccer Club Memorial Day Invitational Tournament. The Fury came out on the right side of a scoreless (0-0) draw that saw the Fury generate strong chances in the Sky Blue end. Fury W-League head coach, Craig Smith, believe this was "the ideal road trip as they get ready for the season. With so many new players the two games against high quality opposition allowed us to see everyone in game situation." The Fury kick-off their regular season Saturday, June 7th at home (Algonquin College Soccer Complex) against the Western Mass Pioneers at 7pm.
